1,000 New Austin Jobs, Thanks to eBay?
When you hear about online income and Internet jobs, most people complain that they detract from the economy; they’d rather you spent your money in local shops and restaurants than give it to someone across the country who has the Monchichi doll or Gumby shot glass you’ve been looking for since you were a teenager. In a turn of events, eBay claims they’ll be bringing 1,000 new jobs to Austin, Texas.
The company has set up shop in Austin for the past four years and is now requesting taxpayer money from the city to help bring new technology careers to the community, starting with eBay itself. A proposed $1.2 million incentive would supposedly bring in 1,000 new jobs over a span of ten years through the company.
